SprayMax 2K has a great reputation for being fuel/chemical resistant, and bonding well to a wide variety of paints.
Everyone I have talked to that has used it, has as good a result as mine.

Thank you Littlemilo for sharing. OnFire Brilliant Red is used on the following models: 1970 DT1C 250, 1970 DT1CM 250, 1971 At1MX 125, 1971 AT1C 125, & 1972 CT2 175

All paints were stock items at the local O'Reilly auto parts. The red, called anodized red, has to go over the special base paint to look right.

Here is what the bike stock original color looks like.

Awesome work on that red!

I'm still hoping someone will come across a decent substitute for the 1970 CT1b candy green! I know you can buy it but I'd like to find something more like what was done by Little Milo with the brilliant red... I'm always looking at paints at the parts stores but haven't seen anything yet that looks close.

Here you go MarkT: :haha

The Candy Green was used on the 1970 CT1B, 1972 LT2, & 1972 LT-M. [

If you surf the internet you will notice many different shades of Candy Green. To get a good match to the OEM paint is to use NOS Parts that are not faded.

I received some messages asking how many coats I used. The Candy green color will vary with thickness. More coats will make it darker, less coats lighter. I am not going to discuss "how to paint", drying times between coats, distance from part when spraying, or rate of spraying speed. If you want a good paint job, I would recommend reading, studying, & asking questions. There are more qualified people then I on this subject. Find what methods and technique's work for you. Mako made a good DIY paint thread HERE. It is a good thread with lots of great advice, I do a couple area's slightly different.

In my humble opnion.....Lance Speed has the best DIY spray paint I have seen here. His DIY thread is located here

Paint used:
Sandblast old paint off
remove dents, use body filler
full cure
Duplicolor self etching primer ---- 2 coats
Duplicolor white primer ---- 2 coats
Duplicor flat black (Guide coat) to catch high/low spot imperfections. --- 1 very light coat dusting
full cure. sand off flat black
Duplicor white base --- 4 coats
full cure
Tape off stripes with moto dad 3m pinstripe tape. post # 24
Duplicor metal cast ground coat (Metallic Flakes) --- 3 coats
Duplicor metal cast Green Anodized MC203 --- 4 coats
Full cure
Apply Decal to oil tank
Clear coat of your choice. I prefer spraymax 2k as its gas/oil resistant and very high quality. --- 4 coats
1500-2000 grit Cut, buff with compound, wax.

1975 Yamaha DT 250B Portuguese Orange & 1976 Yamaha DT 250C New Portuguese Orange. Below is an amazing 1975 DT 250 painted by Mark C. The paint used was Chevrolet Orange. It is almost a dead ringer match. Several companies sell "Chevrolet Orange". it comes down to personnel preference for which brand.

Thank you for sharing Mark C.!
