2 samples for comparison:

Dupli-Color BNS0503 Orange Mist Met against an original '71 DT1E (Mandarin Orange). Note that for ordering in the US there is no "C" at the beginning of the part #.

Dupli-Color BFM0350 Amazon Green Met against an original '73 DT3 (Competition Green).

Both samples were clear coated and waxed.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

This may be of interest only to me, but I have been cleaning my original 1971 DT1C oil tank this morning and I was fascinated by the way they carried the striping around to the back of the tank! I have had two bikes painted and my painter always asked how the stripe run and since I didn't have an original tank, I really couldn't answer. Anyway, here are pictures; mandarin orange of course.

Hi guys, I went through this complete thread, some great information on paint colors here so thanks to those whom contributed! I also noticed some really nice paint jobs on tanks but am wondering if they were painted with a paint gun or rattle can, hard to believe you can achieve such a great looking finish from a rattle can...

Did you ever post the color match you found for the 1974 DT 125? I have a 74 DT 125 and need to find a close match.

Here is a close up of the tank before I mounted it. I just used a standard automotive primer and the House of Kolor Sunset Pearl then 2K clear coat, no base coat.

So my quest for good paint turned up trumps today here in the UK.
For the silver on the mudguards, Ford Moon dust silver metallic , and the most expensive silver paint known to the whole of man kind,Tamiya spray silver alu metallic TC 46 ( i think from memory) available from a model shop in Preston . £10.56 for 100 ml including postage .
Also got Burnt Copper VHT . 2 tins 400 ml £ 20.00 including post.
