Another DE-1615 Question... I saw JimA and Mdscott's post/response on the timing for clear coating DE1615 with SprayMax 2k Clear. Sounds like laying down the clear 15 minutes after the final DE1615 coat is how Mdscott did it. Is this how everyone else has done it too and had good adhesion/no lifting down the road? Thanks for the clarification!

I followed that 15 minute rule on my last 3 uses of spray max clear with good results. I also waited 15 minutes between coats. My garage was heated to 70F.  All of these were recent events, so I can’t speak on the long term adhesion of the clear coat. But so far I love the stuff. Use a respirator and be aware that this stuff really hangs in the air so ventilation is required. I kept my garage closed while I sprayed, but then opened doors and windows to quickly clear the air immediately after spraying each coat. Over spray is unavoidable so cover up anything that you are concerned about, or move it out of harms way.

side note
there is a really nice Hooker Header on eBay for the little GT80 Yamaha. It’s not cheap.

When I used the 2K clear on my DT400 tank I let the base coat dry 7 days so I could put on the decals, then I cleared it and have had no issues.

That is exactly what the auto paint supply place told me was the alternative to the 15 minute rule. They said if you don’t start clear coat immediately after the base color, then you best wait a week.

Same is true for multiple coats, not just specifically clear...  miss the recoat time window and best wait a week or more or risk disaster.

Don't ask me how I know.
