VIN # may be YDS-2, very cool bikes, post a pics of bike to confirm.
Does engine VIN begin with D6?

Nice score - a very complete YDS-2.
They are often missing some of the "hard to find" parts - your new bike appears to be all there.

engine vin: D6-11988 and the last "8" in it was stamped on like 8 times over itself lol sorry no pic atm... phone issue's. when im home on wifi i can upload one.

Well that's kinda cool i guess, bought it being told it was a YDS-1, no title but hey she runs! i paid $1030 for it, good price ?

I think you did well and will enjoy riding the 250cc street bike that was state of the art in 1962/63!!
Nice original patina, may take lots of elbow grease if you tackle the rust but regardless a nice addition to the stable.
You've read many times here but change brake shoes as they do delaminate due to age. I bought new YDS-2 aftermarket shoes on ebay last year, fairly inexpensive. Also numbers matching assuming engine VIN ends in 38.

Remember riding those and thinking how slow my Honda 350 was. Fun! The question that jumped out at me was “Did the back wheels of the Suzy come off the ground when you brake hard?”

Is there any info on alternative clutch friction discs for the 1962 YDS2. The part # 148-16321-00-00 is not available. On the bay I find 3HA-16321-00. Does anyone know if these will fit on the YDS2?
