Update on my Ascot project.....I recently found and purchased the correct Ascot tachometer and the ultra rare tach mount unique to the Ascot. It uses a similar tach as the early Yamaha TZ roadracers.....
here's what a TZ tach looks like.
This image is hidden for guests.
I think the gauge is interesting and very cool looking
as it looks like it belongs on an airplane..
Unfortunately both the tach and mount I purchased were in need of some repair.
So I naturally I sent the gauge and mount to Deet.
As my Ascot project needs the best !!!
I am excited to see how my Ascot's gauge looks after Deet works his magic...
The gauge also requires four rubber dampers that mount the gauge to the tach mount....
fortunately they are being reproduced in England.
These are now on their way to Deet so he can finish the complete tach and mount assembly.
Deet feel free to post any pics of the project here....
If not... I will definitely post plenty once I get it back.

Dave . . . I don't know if you've seen this picture or not . . . found it in an early Yamaha brochure.

Thanks for posting that Enduronut.....yes I have seen that and have a JPG of it too.
On another note .....I have been researching my Ascot and based on the serial number its a later production bike. All the later bikes came configured as the Ascot in the brochure as the road/drag racing configuration with the long pipes, bubble seat and snorkel style air cleaner.
So in order to make my Ascot correct I will need to configure it this way.
This image is hidden for guests.
Fortunately I was able to locate a set of freshly re-chromed set of the TD1-A long pipes and have just purchased them.
Here they are ....

As you would expect....a rare set of pipes in this condition did not come cheap !
This build is really taxing my bank account .....along with being very very time consuming
chasing down these rare parts.
My goal is to end up with a beautiful very correct Ascot !
I hope all the time and money is worth it ?

I am really excited how its coming together...

Once I actually start assembling the Ascot my plan is start a new build thread dedicated to the bike.

Dave,
Your Tach looks great ! Can't wait to see it on the bike. Deet should be getting my DT400 tach Tuesday, so he will get to work his magic again.
