I am rebuilding my father's 1962 YDS2. He bought it new because the Ascot Scrambler's were sold out at the dealership. He bought a set of Ascot pipes for it. He was an early scrambler/moto-cross/MX racer back in his day. As his son, I started racing the JT1 (I think 60cc enduro's) and then to the MX80/YZ80 class before I finished off with the 1975 MX100 (you see along side of the YDS2). During my time as a MX'er - my father brought out of retirement and raced it on the days that I raced. She's was a steady runner, but as the mono-shocks came into being and younger men with lighter thrills - the YDS2's time was fading away.

With all that said, I have the pipes. They are in rough shape. The didn't fit well on the YDS2 because the footpegs on the street bike were solid. There was no give what-so-ever. I'm in Atlanta, GA (for work) and work be home for a couple of weeks. I'll shoot some photo's of them when I return.

The early YG1 also had the ignition coil mounted on the stator plate under the flywheel... primary and secondary coils were all in one with the high tension wire to the plug exiting the case. I wonder if you could somehow use two early YG1 coils on a custom stator plate with two sets of points? long shot... And you'd need a flywheel with a points cam that would fit the crank... but it might be possible?

The magneto is in great shape and both the MC-2RY's ohm out nearly identical so I am confident both are in good working order...as 1Patk is keeping his original for his project.

As you can see the magneto is in very good condition....will just need to change the coil wires as there have been cut for some reason and are 50 plus years old and a fresh set of condensers and it should be good to go !
