I am looking for a parts source and anyone with experience working on the early Yamaha YDS2 and YDS3 250's ?.

I am getting close on buying a number matching 1965 YDSM Ascot Scrambler which is based on the above bikes....the motor's condition is unknown at this point.

I would be looking to get the bike running soon after I bought it...

Hopefully someone can help ?

I will know more about the motors condition tomorrow.

Would you like me to talk to Tom White and see if he has any resources for the bike?

Thanks guys....

I have a question.

When restoring a bike like this, should the frame and other bits be powdercoated or should traditional paint be used ?

I think there are high end restorations done both ways?

I would like some "opinions" from you guys

First- Congrats Dave on landing this bike- I have never really seen one, only heard of them. Now seeing a Pic can truly understand what cool is!

Since this bike is so limited and just not many out there- I think just a basic clean up and paint would be the way to go.

My thoughts are if she is a solid runner and complete- that is the ultimate value for sure.

I think the full top notch restorations do make a difference if you have a bike that has larger availability in the market- then top of the line resto's do make sense.

But for this one- Just touch every piece and make it look awesome with Paint.

Looking forward to following this one brother!
