My guess it was built by George Barris as with the Batmobile ?

Batman taking the scenic coastal route....maybe so he can "wind up" the YDS2 to 10.5k or so thru some twisties ?

I remember those! I watched the Batman TV show when I was a kid. there is much discussion to have about that show but I will keep quiet about it.
besides,fixing up a YDS is every bit as interesting as that old show was or even more so.

Yamaha engineer's initially must have thought
that hanging the clutch on the crankshaft was a good idea ?

The Ascot's "twin magneto" ignition is missing unfortunately..
as the PO replaced the mag with the YDS generator.

From my understanding these motors are pretty bulletproof..
as long as you don't snap the clutch off the crank?
So.... having the heavy generator mounted up might not be a bad idea ?
But they can still take lots of abuse and can run reliably to well over 10,000 rpm.
This is very similar to if not the same bottom-end used in the TD1 road racers ?

yup,the clutch is on the end of the cranshaft. not my favorite idea there either.
