wow, this is a cool bike here! :OnFire :Subscribe

from what I know about these and it is very little, the 1964 models ran on premix and the 1965 models got the Yamalube oil injection.

one of my Uncles bought a YDS2 brand new in 1964 and he regularly blew away his friends riding big Harleys.

The blue gas tank is the correct Ascot tank
it was bought at Barber a few years ago...

These gas tanks are huge !
The Ascot tank has twin petcocks and is good condition and is clean inside.
The black and white YDS3 tank is severely rusty and borderline ever useable?

The carbs are not the correct 24mm Mikuni's that Ascot came with....
also included were multiple generators and sidecovers...
and a second set of front and rear hubs and triple trees.

I am missing the correct rear fender...
the YDS3 fender shown is very rusty
and must weigh 25 pounds !

Also have the rare Ascot air cleaners so that is big plus....

It will be a fun project to be bringing this bike back to life....
it is amazing to examine all the parts..
as this was one of Yamaha's first offering to the U.S. in the early sixties.

Think about it...Kennedy was president when this bike was new!

It's a cool piece of history that's for sure
I feel honored and lucky to have found it .

I must say few bikes give me instant wood like this Ascot.Since it is such a rarity I must say in my opinion to stay as close to original as you possibly can will certainly bring the biggest return down the road. :OnFire

I agree....most buyers at this level would want the bike to look "exactly" like the photos they have seen.

I think I have NOS control cables for that bike. Let me know if you will need some.

I have always liked Yamaha twins......the AS-1 with the hop up kit can put out over 25 hp.....

Its good to have another twin after recently selling my RD400 I owned for 35 or so years.

I am excited to hear what the YDSM Ascot sounds like when putting out it's rated 35 hp at 10,500 rpm ?
