I have a 69 DT1 JDM in Candy Gold w/Black Stripe.
I thought the Candy Gold was introduced in 1969.
Now I know it was used on the 1968 International models.
Thanks for posting the brochure's

Rick

Hi Rick .......that looks an extremely nice bike!
What does JDM stand for?
Your bike looks to be the first of the B's? Cross over on lots of early parts ...... ??? Early muffler, carb & red connector block, small tachometer, single spark plug head etc ....... The L/H light horn control looks like it also has a switch for the turn signals ..... Don't see many of them!!
How close to 15,000 are the frame/engine number?

Cheers

U
T1,
Thanks for the kind words.
JDM is for Japanese Domestic Market. It was purchased in Japan and brought back to the U.S.
Frame and engine #20096
It has a lot of the 68 components on it. Small tach, exhaust, Black oil tank, silver headlight ears.
The speedometer is in kilometers only. It has a support bracket under a longer seat. It even has a steering lock on it.
If your interested I can post more pictures.

I think that bike is worthy of a whole thread filled with pictures! Please consider doing so if you have time. Any more to the back story would also be cool.

Really gorgeous bike!

I have fabricated the longer ones by adding (welding) an extension to an NOS short end tip and match the bend to original. Pipe diameter is the same as original ID and OD. Here's a repro:

Hello - a new member just about to embark on a restoration but not sure what I have. Frame number DT1-35809 which from my research seems to be a 1969 DT1-B. The motor currently installed is numbered DT1F-152637 indicating 1973 DT3 which is consistent with green tank and sidecovers. A second motor that came with the bike is numbered DT1-13794 indicating it is 1968 DT1. I bought the bike on the basis that it was a first model DT1 but with a later model motor. It also came with a DT1 tank which has the Yamaha badges screwed to the tank, not stickers. There is also a box of bits including two sets of guages, but of the three sets in total none are the small tacho. The ignition key is between the guages, not under the tank. That tail light fitted looks to me to be first model DT1. It also has the original seat.
So any help or advice before I start would be appreciated.
