I don't have a good number on our female members, but we definitely have half a dozen on the board that I am aware of. Not everyone add gender to their profile, (and some may not be truthful :EEEK ) so hard to say. We are definitely happy to have everyone on the board!

Maybe I will set up a female user group for you all :)
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

Hi everyone, my name is Randy, I'm 49 years old, born and raised in Southern California, I'm a physician associate. I found this forum by doing a search on my 1970 YAMAHA CT1B 175 Enduro. My CT1B was given to me by my grandfather when I was 13 years old. I paid for the motorcycle by mowing his yard 10 times. At that time, the motorcycle was in need of a mild restoration which my father and I did to get it up and running. I started off riding the motorcycle on the dirt only until I got my drivers permit at the age of 15 and 1/2 then began riding it to and from high school. Needless to say, my CT1B and I have been through a lot during those early years but, it has been sitting in the outdoors for about 30 years collecting rust. I have recently regained interest in my CT1B and I'm in the first stages of gathering information about restoring it again to it's full luster but, before I start this project I have to figure out first if it's doable and second how much it's going to costs. If anyone has some ballpark figures please message me. I'm excited to get started and thank you to those who started this forum. I'm looking forward to hearing your input.

Welcome!

The tech library has the service & parts Manuals, as well as 2 magazine articles on the CT1B. The CT1B is the greatest bike ever made (in my opinion).

I'm currently restoring one....The cost of restoring one all depends on how far you want to take it and what you want for the final outcome. If you want a pristine condition with NOS parts it will cost several thousand. If you want want a "dirt trail rider" that you wont care if it hits rocks and falls over, it will cost a few hundred.

I'm shooting for a full pristine condition restoration. Are there still factory parts available? If I want flawless gauges, should I have them rebuilt or can I purchase new ones?

There are many NOS parts that still show up on Ebay. Member Enduronut bought out Yamaha Dealers that closed and has NOS parts. Member DEET can restore/make gauges, oil pumps, wiring harness, stators, cables, vin stickers and more to pristine condition. You can find an NOS Tachometer fairly often on ebay but the Speedo is much rarer.

Your prices may very, this is what I've spent so far approximately..

Re-Chrome $1,750
NOS Parts & Partzilla parts - hardware, rims, grey cables, shocks, tires, tubes, bearings, horn, lights, piston, rings, springs, bushing, carb pieces, Brake pads, chain and sprocket set, pet cock rebuild, wiring harness, clutch plates/friction, seat cover, ETC......$2,000-$3000+
KDI reproduction foam/rubber $150.
Fork tubes re-chrome $150, $300 if new by Franks
Crank shaft rebuild $70 Labor
Buchanan spokes Front and Rear polished $300
Marble motors paint job $1,200 (I did it myself with rattle can to save money here).
DEET vin sticker $20
DEET Oil pump rebuild $priceless
Enduronut Bore Job $43
DEET Gauge stickers $20-40ish?

Additional misc:
Aftermarket Powerdyno CDI unit $400 - Stock was points...DEET can restore this.
Title process $200
Feather light Lithium Battery $90
Enduronut porting and sleeper pipe $priceless
Powdercoated frame $150 (Rest I'm doing myself).

Alot of money....but the end result will be priceless. What good is money when your dead?.....sorry if i'm getting carried away  . When you do your restore, make a thread, ill be watching!
