Will try to post a story, but will need some time to prepare it. Basically the restoration was quite straightforward but fitting the IT 400D fork to a DT250-D, and making an expansion chamber to fit the IT motor on the DT frame was very challenging. Although the motor fittings are the same the frame, tank, etc is quite different. Although a lot of work i would not have been satisfied with 17hp of the DT-250D, i wanted enduro/mx performance 40hp on a street legal "offroad", with seventies retro look.

:) Hi all, thanks for having me along. I'm on the wrong side of fifty and have started to get back into bikes after a long time out. I have a '79 dt250 f in nice original condition ,but with a few of the bugs you would expect for an old bike. I stumbled across this site and am pretty impressed, some great content and interesting forums. I'm from downunder in Australia and vintage japanese bikes are coming into their own and I'm happy to be on board! Thanks again, Roundy.

I'm Shawn from Kodiak, Alaska and was a member of the previous site even though it had so many problems. I'm definitely a Yamaha nut, as most of my 30+ bikes are Yamahas from the 1968 DT1 #00500 that TXBOB from Tyler restored for me, to the triplet JT2s that Kevin T (The 'Mini Enduro Man') from MT is building to match the DT1 an '71 RT1MX and at third version that is what we call the Hello Kitty version that is hot pink and black. I have a few '70 RT1's, a '70 AT1 a '72 R5C, & DS7, RT2, '74 RD250, '86 SRX600, '86TY350 an '89 YSR50. Plus can't forget my other '68 DT1 that will be GYT'd by next year and be my rider to wake up the neighbors. I love mini enduros, and I think between the GT1 and JT2's I am up to ten. Trying to get a JT1J from Canada at the moment. I do have a '73 XL250 restored, a '75 Kawi H2 750 that will be sold this year, and a 1999 Buell S3T Thunderbolt for the long runs. Plus a 2013 Honda CBR 500R for my longer trips in Thailand, otherwise I ride a Suzuki Hayate 125 motobike which is the safest thing due to many idiot drivers there. I'm a commercial fisherman and have been fishing for 37 years, just got back from my 30th year in the Bering Sea for crab. I have a salmon boat and driftgillnet in Bristol Bay and halibut fish on it as well. Most of my MCs are in WA and then another 6 in CA. My first MC was a '72 JT2MX, as for the teardrop tank I am a sucker for it. My first bike that I bought when I first started collecting in 2006 was a '79 RD400 Daytona Special and I still have it, but it needs an electronic ignition and a tune up for my next ride on it. I'm 51, and trying to stop my fishing addiction to play with MCs more and raise my 3 1/2 year old boy, Henri. I ask him how many MCs dad has and he says, "too many". He knows they will all be his some day , but only after he starts on a PW50 with training wheel after Christmas of 2016. I plan on being in the NW more in the next few years so I can work on bikes, ride, and show my boy how to ride safely. Incidentally, he won't get on a bike without his helmet, as I have trained him since he was 2 years old. Oh, and I am looking at a 2000 BMW R1100T to possibly ride to Sturgis, as I am not a Harley guy, except for my Buell's engine. I've bought parts from around the world when needed but Dave S from SD has been a great source of parts. Plus if any of you know Mark Delva from Covina CA he has sold me 3 '68 DT1's, parts, and has quite of knowledge and history what he calls the '68 Enduro. I'm happy to be in touch with everyone on here. I only want two or three more bikes and I will be about finished; a 1974 Honda CB550 in Candy Jade Green and a IT250. As all of you know you don't own MCs we're just their keepers until the next person comes along to buy and ride it, or at least I have been told this buy a few wise older gentlemen that sold their 2 strokes.

Hi I have just found your excellent website/forum and signed up! My name is Martyn and I live in Great Britain/UK. I currently ride a DT1 that I restored from a basket case back to concours back in 2003 after 5 years spent acquiring parts from across the USA because Yamaha never imported the DT1 into the UK.
I am currently restoring a non running RT1, and riding a DT400B that also came from the USA. I look forward to using your site and contributing to it when possible. I have attached a picture of my DT1 and the RT1( the day that it was delivered to my house).
