Hi, Yes the Dt1 was featured in Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics after I won best 1960's Yamaha at the Stafford Show back 2004 or 5. When I rebuilt it I was living just outside Dartford in Kent, but I now live in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex. I have ridden the bike on the VMCC West Kent Run that involves a 100 mile run through Kent and starts off at Aylesford Priory. I used to be a member of the VJMC for many years, but as they don't have meetings in this neck of the woods I joined a VMCC club near Battle and regularly ride my bikes alongside the club members using various types of 60's Brit Iron. Most of the guys in the club are amazed by the build quality of the DT1 compared to Brit stuff from 68!
Do you meet up with any other DT owners in your area?

Regards
M

Hi, Makotosun, I used to be a member of the old forum, until I could no longer get on it about 5 years back and I only just found the new site by chance after using google in order to try find out the correct float level setting for my DT400B. I will spread the word about the site, as I know several guys in the UK and the USA that own various Yamaha Enduro models.

I am a member of the VJMC but haven't been to any of the regular meetings ... are you a UK forum member of the Yamaha DT club?

Hi,
My name is Dave and I am new to the group, but not totally new. My son Arin and I just completed the Hungry Valley rides, aka California Dreaming 2, arrived late Friday, stayed to Sunday, and had a blast riding with our new friends for the first time.
My motorcycle riding started when I was 13 when my father gave me a sealed can for Christmas. I opened it with a can opener, to find a key to a Honda 50. Wow ! I was hooked. I grew up in Pacific Palisades, California, and had access to a large canyon behind Marquez elementary school, to learn how to ride motorcycles, guessing 1964 ish. Since then, never looked back. I raced MX in the early 70's, raced desert for 3 years, took an 11 day suicide trip to La Paz, from Ensenada Mexico on a Bultaco mark 5, and settled down upon return. Traded the bikes for a wife. A few years passed, and in my neighbor's garage was this pristine xt 250 with 200 miles. After a year of begging, he finally sold it to me.
Shortly, more bikes came and went into the garage, so now there is a 77 IT 250, 98 DR650, 3 KDX 200's and a newly acquired plated DT175 G, and one street bike, a 05 Suzuki Bandit.
It is good to be back in the dirt, riding again now with my son the way my Dad and I did it back in the day. Once it is in your blood, it is there forever.
I am looking forward to continued rides with the club and the new friendships in the near future.

Dave

Welcome! to the site, Dave!

It was good to meet your guys in California, and even better since it was a riding event! Looking forward to another one soon!

Makotosun,
Thanks for the welcome. The people we met over the weekend were great and very knowledgeable. It is my understanding you do the video for the group ? IF so, can you advise which program you use, as I have shot Sunday's ride at HV, but need to edit and condense it.
If you could help me with this , that would be great.
thank you,
Dave

Windows movie maker was used for all of the currently posted stuff. There are others that are better but I am in the process of looking at some others.
