Go to put 20 miles on today… all my kittens are herded up and in a line…. It’ll do 55 mph @ 5500 rpm’s… then crack the throttle and it keeps giving more…. I’ll say it’s running very nice… I have the biggest smile I can’t wipe off my face now…
Nuts.. going out of town tomorrow…

Another 18 miles… the last mile or so, I was the power plant…. I don’t have a feel for how much fuel there isn’t when it’s only in the sides of the tank… Dag gummit!!

Hey Sneezles, I've been putting a few miles on my new top end and carb too.  This morning coming home from the gym I knew my tank was getting low but didn't think about it until I pulled up to a stop sign and it just died with no warning.  I reached down to look at the fuel line and saw it was empty, I switched it to reserve and saw the fuel flowing again.  Started right up but was a little embarrassed, the guy in the lane next to me was looking at me like I was a moron, probably not far from the truth

I’ll bet we ain’t the first ones… I hope it’s the last time tho!
RT325 has it nailed…
I think from here out, I’ll be sure the tank is topped off…If there’s any left when I have to put the old grey mule in the shed for winter, I can very easily drain it… then come up with an oily pint or so for winter as it sits… Is a heavy seafoam mixture alright for these old bikes for storage?

I've run out of fuel before but it was while I was moving and could feel it hesitate so I knew to just reach down and put it on reserve then carry on.  It kinda threw me for a second when it died coming to a stop but only for a second

Whoa, just found my RT2 riders manual… It has many answers to my questions…
I knew I received this book when I bought the bike, but then it was put where I wouldn’t loose it… and find it….until now.

Don't you just love it when you put things away where you know you wont forget, then can't find them! I recently bought a chain adjuster for my T7, put it away then couldn't find it so I bought another. I'm sure I'll find the original some day then send it to a friend with a T7...

I’ll have some faith in some better document storage when I get my garage rebuilt… gee whiz!
A conversation about where the decompression lever is, top or bottom…. On page 10 and 11 it shows this one on the bottom…. However, the light, horn and blinker switch on the left hand side is way different than mine.it shows the big lever. The horn button is a fairly large square… can’t make out what the blinker(winker) lever looks like…
Just interesting stuff for comparing…

Some photos that Yamaha use are generic and not specific to a model, so don't worry about that.

The RT3 Owner's manual shows the decomp lever on top and my research leads me to believe that its location changed between the RT2 and RT3. I guess use what is most comfortable for you, although a couple of the fitment items are different.
