I did file diagonal slots into the pads as directed from my Clymers manual….
I have inquired to KDI for the rubber grommets for both fenders on my bike… they don’t have them at this time… Well, HVCcycles does but lists only the back ones…
Since I didn’t do them at the same time, I really think they are about the same… I’ve asked them and await their reply…
I better go look at the Yamaha pages to verify also…
A few details to finish up and I’ll be doing way more riding and alot less tinkering!

My 50-year old brake shoes were glazed, but still completely intact and bonded. I did replace them both, and the set I got for the front have water grooves.

Well I didn’t look for the brake shoes option…. Maybe ifn they said something about ice I would’ve noticed…..
I’ll look at motodad…
I did look at the Yamaha stuff… both front and back grommets share the same part number…
Stuff sinks in slowly on my side..

For my DT2 front and rear fenders I picked the best grommet out of the ones I took off, went to Ace Hardware and got grommets that were close, not quite as thick so I couldn't use the collars but I'm not building a concourse restoration so for me that didn't matter but was considerably cheaper...

You're welcome, can't see paying 4 times as much (or more), for a darn rubber grommet.  Lowes has them as well but I've found that Ace has a better selection.

Well… I’ll be replacing my clutch cable… it’ll be here next week. It has a nasty kink and I believe it’s really stretching the cable and not fully disengaging the clutch…
I looks as though it has been routed down the left side clock, tucked under the hull of the fuel tank, above the rubber tank bumper then onto it’s appointed spot…
I don’t believe that’s correct.. This bike only has 3900 miles on it… I don’t feel the need to start looking at the clutch assembly just yet… Could any of you clarify the cable routing? I would be very thankful!

It’s raining here today. Replacing the clutch cable… my how that cover is caked in dirt… I find that the cover has been welded. Sure seems fine so I won’t worry about looking for a cover. And I took the actuator apart to clean the grime… and as many of you have found, it’s in need of replacing. I’ll head over to KDI and get one coming.
I’m not in any big rush to get the old grey mule out of the garage. It’ll take what it takes and every part I find bad back to good order.. It’s plain old fun tinkering with it.

You have more patience than I do.  It's been over a month since I've been able to ride my DT2, the top end is getting some work done on it and a new carb, can't wait to get it back.  Been busy dong odds and ends on it, cleaned and painted the replacement oil tank, original has cracks around the mounts and was leaking.

I put one of those KDI repalcement parts on my acuator, works great.  Installing it wasn't too bad, used a friends vice and moved it a little at a time, also used some spray lubricant to help it along.
