My adventure with these old enduro's is barely under way..
As best I know, GR8-Al pointed out, its a MX tank.. 73?.. They guy I got it from told me nothing was changed.. Well then, just recently , the tank isn't the original.. Sprocket has been changed..  A week after I got the bike, the guy had a stroke.. so... I will just continue about my getting it up and going decent and stop by for him to see...

Well, I made a make-shift air filter.. was able to take it for a ride today.. and it still seems like its getting too much gas at cruising speed... kinda blubbers along.. So I looked down the tail pipe... Don't see much collected on the steel... but could be deeper in... where I couldn't see...
The next simple step... Raise the cir-clip on the needle... Now it won't start.... Rain started so I pushed it into the garage and have spent time looking and reading.. I'll put the clip back where it was... I suspect the carb needs to be taken apart and looked at... What little I saw.. the platform that hold the main needle doesn't appear to look like any in the expanded carb pictures... But right now.. speculation won't cut it.. and Ive got lawn-scaping to complete... Then there will be time to clear my bench.. and to-do list and see whats up with it..

A question for our friends in the UK/British.. A friend is needing parts for another old bike... He found Dave Silvers Spares... A reputable place for parts?

Many guys restoring Honda's here in New Zealand , buy from Dave Silver , and repeatedly .
So I think he's a pretty safe bet .

I'm guessing that it's a Honda he's restoring, then?

I bought loads of parts for my 500/4 from them twenty odd years ago, with no problems.

I think that Dave started up by buying up new old Honda stock, cheap, from various dealers - either closed down ones or those who were clearing out their parts stores. This likely still happens, although they've probably moved into doing their own repro stuff as well (a seat for my 400/4 springs to mind).

There shouldn't be any issues with buying from them.

RT2 back running... some wing nut didn't get the throttle slide tubes lined up right...  Big golf night behind us, so I didn't get on it.. try tomorrow..
see if runs better..
Question for you then.. I don't want to pull the head off this year... I'm not too familiar with Yamaha ignition.. yet.. Is adjusting the gap the same as advance or closer to TDC? I will pull the cover and have a look this W/E..

And it runs fine now!  I'm at the last (top) clip position... Really need a smaller sprocket on the back... 50 MPH at 5500 RPM's isn't what I'd like to be doing...
I believe the engine as a whole is well sealed... If it doesn't start on the first try (kick) after its warmed up, it floods... So then open the throttle and try give it a couple more... (please don't kick back)

No choke when hot but guess you're not doing that. Normally would need a bit of throttle to start when hot. Decomp softens the kick back if it does kick, Just keep the timing back to minimum specs. Look after ya knee.
