Very cool! We have a neat old Yamaha video in our Youtube links (top of the page) called "The Tansha". Your flick reminds me a bit of it!

New member here. Just bought a 78 DT400 and am getting it back into shape. I haven't had a non-street only bike in 30 years.

The last one I had was a 78 DT125 I bought new in grade school. I can still remember like yesterday driving home with that bike in the back of the pickup. I'm not sure I've smiled that big in the last 30 years!

Welcome! To the site. We have several Monoshock builds on the site. Plus we have a factory manual in the tech library.

I can tell you that the old smile will be returning :Throttle

Hi everyone... my name is Sally. aannnnndd, probably the only female on this forum. I attained a 125 DT about a year ago. My stepson brought it home. He got bored with it when it wouldn't run anymore (?) So I bought it from him for 50 bucks! :) So I am in the process of learning to mechanize myself to do this work myself. I used to ride when I was in high school. My brother used to race motocross and flat track in Southern Calif. So I would hang around with him and his friends and ride, the boyfriends who rode..that kinda stuff. Then it all changed when my mom bought me a horse, then I got married. Now I have 7 horses, still married and a cool 125 Yamaha Enduro, that I can't wait to ride! Actually, I would rather have a 175 Enduro...but all is good. Don't look the gift horse in the mouth....as they say!!!!

Welcome! to the site Sally! Actually you are not our only female member Yay2

What year is your 125? We probably have a factory service manual to cover it in our Tech Library, as well as lots of vintage articles. The cool thing about the 125's is that if you get the same year top end from a 175 it will bolt right up and, Voila!, you have a 175.

I did that to my 1970 AT1 and the difference in rideability is amazing! We can let you know which year top ends will interchange if we know yours.

Also, it is customary to post up a picture or so of your project!

Thanks for joining us!

My name is Kevin. I am a lifelong motor head. I have loved Yamaha enduros since I was a teenager. (A friend's older brother had a DT250 that I lusted after, which we were forbidden from riding and were stuck with lesser machines.) My best friend has a cherry '74 DT360 (which is for sale BTW, that I can't afford right now) I have had a few street bikes: '69 XLCH, '74 CB450, '70 CL350, '82ish CM400a, and one glorious '74 DKW 175 enduro (what a beast!) I currently have a '74 DT175 in rough but running condition. I must confess to being primarily a Honda guy. and looking for an SL350. Don't hate me. I have been out of bikes for quite some time due to life's circumstances, but I'm back. Some pics of the old crate will follow.

Welcome! to the site! I recently acquired the '75 version of that bike and am really impressed with it. Mine is a bit of a pig, but the mechanicals give great performanc.

Good to have you on the site.

My name is Kevin Wilson and I have a 1974 DT 175A. This is the same bike I had as a kid. However, the bike I have now is completely stock and in amazing condition. I'm interested in restoring this bike. Therefore, I'm in the market for parts such as: shocks, fork seals, and decals.
