Getting ready to head out for our ride today...

Shot a little video of the Black Widow yesterday after making some final adjustments!

Bike is pulling so strong I will need to give some attention to the clutch... will be a good winter project. Wicked

A little footage from our ride Yesterday- this is the Black Widow riding up Phantom Canyon Road in Teller County.

Still need to drop down one size on the Pilot Jet to really clean it up but the bike performed very well on our 140 mile ride.

I started by watching your videos on this page, (thanks to "Active topics since last visit") and then I went back to page one. And worked my way through your entire build. This is one of the prettiest motorcycles I've ever seen. No exaggeration. Your attention to detail, your modifications, your color choices etc. have all come together to make a great bike. Congratulations!

Thank you Relic!

Appreciate the nice comments- This was a super fun project and it is always kind of cool when you can take a classic and just add a few touches to make it personalize but yet keeping it true to its heritage.

The bike is super fun to ride and has some awesome power- will be putting many many miles on this bike in the years to come.

My Black Widow Bike is getting a wake up call!

After many weeks working with the Carburation on this bike and virtually trying every combination of Jets, Needle Jets, Needles, Valve Cut-Away's, Timing to get this bike to run at peak performance.... It is time to try a different Path...

The bike is running good but it has not delivered to the level that I know this bike can with the way I have it set up.

The bike is crying for more Air- which means more fuel which means a very happy engine!

So after visiting with Deet and Enduronut- running some symptoms/ideas past them and getting their Expert opinions...

Why not try a "284" 1971 RT1MX/VM34SH Carb?

So now where in the heck can I find a rare RT1MX Carb??

Well- I was very lucky to find a 284 Carb Body on e-bay for just $30.00 bucks-Nice!!

The great thing is my stock RT1 carb parts will bolt right on to this VM34SH carb- of course will need to change the Jets- Needle Jet- Needle to dial it in.

I have 3 different RT1MX Carb Specs/Set-ups that Enduronut shared with me and will be trying them all to see what works best.

With a Bored (6th Oversize), Ported-Piston Port Cylinder and a MX High Compression head on this engine with that awesome Sleeper Pipe- thinking this engine will be very happy!!

I will keep everyone posted once I get the carb all put together and installed on the bike.

The Air Filter set up is Brand new-

The stock step up for 284 / E4 Carburetor is a 310 Main Jet, and a 60 Pilot jet compared to a 240 Main and 30 pilot in the stock RT1B Carb.

It also called for 2.5mm Slide vs. the 1.5mm in the stock RT1B Carb.

I have a couple new slides (2.0 & 2.5) ordered along with the proper P-0 Needle Jet and should arrive here tomorrow.- What a difference this is going to make.

It is going to give the Black Widow just what she needs- More Venom!!! Dance

The great thing is all the parts on a 275 or 308 Carb Body fits the 284- Big difference of course is the jetting.

So- once I got everything done- (Current set up is- Main Jet 280 - Pilot Jet 55- Needle Jet P-0- Needle is 3rd slot- 3.0mm slide) time to get it on the bike!

Took the bike for a 10 mile spin to test it out- Pilot and Needle feel real good- very rich on the top end so will be jetting it down tomorrow to dial it in.

Wow- this Carb is really going to wake this bike up- Will give an updated report on this tomorrow!
