Good eye!!
I felt this bike needed that little different touch to make it stand out and just hitting the midle fins really came out nice.
I think it gives it just a little more aggressive look. Wicked

One side case down and three more to go!
This image is hidden for guests.
Going to do one case cover each night this week so the engine can become complete by Friday.

Phew! wears out a good arm or two but well worth the effort when they are finished
I did not want these polished out to a mirror Chrome finish for this project but with the right amount of shine to dress up the engine.

I like how well the paint looks on the engine. I quickly realized, you cant polish the engine very well without splitting the cases. There is alot of hard to get to spots, and casing imperfections from the factory.

Yep- That is why I paint the engine
Dupli-Color DE1650 Ceramic Cast Coat Aluminum Engine Paint is almost a dead ringer for color and puts an incredible finish and unifies all of the unevenness that these engines have.

A little more elbow grease tonight...
This image is hidden for guests.
The engine is looking really awesome and will be the crown jewel when it sits in the bike for sure.
Still need to install the two new Breather Plugs and the "Made is Japan" sticker...

Down to just one case cover (Clutch/Sprocket Cover) now and will complete this tomorrow.

Applied the silicone adhesive and the 360 Emblem is solid as a rock!

I have decided that I am not going to leave the pipe flat black and will be painting is with Krylon BBQ/High Heat paint to give it that perfect satin finish.

The red should really pop against the black pipe!
Once I get the last case cover spruced up... It will time to get the Carb all assembled and ready to go onto the engine.
Dropping the Engine into the frame in is getting real close! This is the mile stone that I have been shooting for and it is only the end of July!!! [o-o] Going to be nice to have a couple good weeks to get this bike broke in and dialed in for EFest riding!![ok]

I like that you include the paint can in the photos, it helps beginners like myself to know what products you guys are using.
Your details are coming out nicely!!

The bike is really coming together! Looks like the design voices in your head were right!
Your usual attention to detail is raising the collective bar - I suspect when we see builds like this, everyone's standards go up. Even mine

Thanks Gents- as you know or can see... I am a big fan of the Krylon and DupliColor paints.
Once you figure out the finish that you need - these paints will deliver.
This has been such a fun project- I have just kind of let things come together. What I thought was a mistake or a mis-shipped part turned out to be a perfect touch.
Even though I want this bike to look good and represent the true core value of a Yamaha Enduro- It will be a rider and will see many thousands of miles covering Colorado, California and where ever the EnduroFest events take place.
So performance and durability are at the top of the list. We know these old Enduro's are bullet proof when done right so for me it was more about adding a few upgrades to the cylinder and exhaust to drive a little more power. Excited

Will turn my attention to the Carb next- It has gone thru two soakings so far and will be giving it a final soak tomorrow.
Have new Float Bowl Gasket, O'ring, Jets etc...
This carb was in pieces when I bought this old bike so will take inventory tomorrow to see what else in needed to make it complete.

I will be placing the Engine in the Frame on Saturday- this will allow me to install the Chain- Make all of the electrical connections.
In the home stretch now! Planning on the first big start up late next week.

Got the Carb all sorted out and triple cleaned today!

There was only one part missing (needle) and I just happened to have a 6DH3 needle in my parts bin... So life is good!!

I jetted this rich with the stock Jetting- 230 Main and a 45 Pilot to make sure during break in the engine is getting plenty of fuel.

After the break in procedure is complete and I have some miles on it... Will dial it in to perfection!

So right on schedule as the week-end is close and the Engine will go into the frame!!
