Wouldn't it have been a bit easier to get an early YZ250 and put a AT2 tank on it...

Yes it would of been way way way easier but sometimes its about the journey and not the destination. When there is nothing left to mod on my bike I will probably get bored with it.
I prefer to think of it as a AT2 on steroids .... not a neutered YZ250.

I haven been on this site for awhile but wanted to update my thread
I have about 5 or 6 tanks of gas through the new top end. Im having a lot of fun riding it again now that the weather is warm here. I am still working out the jetting and running rich but I can tell you this thing rips! Hopefully riding it in the Mammoth motocross vintage race next weekend. Dave I may need rush shipping on that jersey, lol

So im still around and riding the AT2 in the summertime. I pulled it out of winter storage and did some work to get ready for the mammoth motocross vintage race this month.
Its getting a fresh rear knobby and number plates on my next days off.
I put a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket on to tighten up between gears.
The tank needed to be cleaned because the rust kept getting by my cheap fuel filter and not let the float needle seal.
The forks were rebuilt with new oil and seals. While they were apart the stroke was shortened 1" to give the bike a steeper head tube angle. The 21" front wheel and longer fork made the head angle way to slacked.
Also to help with steering angle I raised the rear by mounting the rear shocks about 1 inch up the swingarm.
Finally I extended the shifter 1.5" forward to give more room wearing moto boots and added a folding tip.
Sorry but I dont have any pictures to post

Bad ass bike, I like your solution to slowed steering w/21, jack up the back, did you machine the top tree to slide forks through it? What pipe's that?
