I got my Meis modified top end and sleeper pipe installed and took my time to break in the motor. Dave said I had to do 60 miles under 4000 rpm and another 60 miles under 6000 rpm. It felt like it took forever to do those 120 miles!!!! I was patient and did it right and around 130 miles I was finally allowed to give it some throttle. I was kinda disappointed with the power and discovered my compression was low. Further investigation showed I was leaking by at the back stud between the cylinder and case. I pulled the top end apart and found that a stud was pulling out because one of the previous owners had poorly put in a helicoil :Ugh I was pretty bummed and had to put the bike away for awhile to weigh my options
A. try another helicoil
B. get a case half from ebay
C. find a running engine or bottom end to put my top end on
D. sell or part out the bike
E. Go big and take it to the next level

That's a shame but these things were sent to try us, trouble is they damn well keep on trying us. Depending on how much meat is left in the case around the helicoil--& helicoils are quite thin or narrow, so--i use, or have used some thingys i'm not sure what they're called now but are made to self tap the hole if right size drill is used & are quite thick & you'll never strip it out but will bring it back to 8mm for the stud. just google imaged & found one like i use but not sure how to link it for you so try this number off ebay which is different but similar in principial--same end result & back to 8x1.25 thread pitch. Number 161727448904. Good luck & must say i've never seen an original stud pulled out of the case but there's a first for everything. ps, i see these ones listed need a 12mm tap insert them but i'm sure my ones are made to cut their way in, but in saying that i.m pretty sure i tapped the hole so far in with a starting tap to 'give it a chance' but can't remember how i forced it it turn in but probably just locked up a high tensile bolt & nut into it then wound it in.

found the ones i used but this pic will show the 6mm version, same horse though. ebay 351298726284. see how ya go. Other might have a better idea!!, have done things like say if it will take a 10mm thread after helicoil has 'pulled' out then machine up a piece of solid something & run a 10mm die over it then tap the inside to 8mm, cut it off & wind it in. Need taps & dies plus a small home lathe though, but i alway look for the easiest option to avoid dismantling if pos.

Some of you may know from another thread that i picked "E" GO BIG!
I really liked my bike and have fun riding it around so I decided to do a complete motor swap
I wanted a bigger displacement air cooled two stroke and found a 2000 yamaha blaster quad for pretty cheap on craigslist.
It was already pretty tricked out, it had
240 big bore kit
v force reeds
upgraded 35mm pwk carb and intake
aftermarket pipe and silencer
hd clutch

The blaster engine was not much bigger than the AT and has electronic ignition and a 6 speed :)
I was able to simplify my wiring and get rid of the battery and box

I still need to finish the mount between the pipe and silencer because I hate the way it looks like the silencer is down hill
I just threw on a hose clamp so I could ride it

My first thought on seeing that is :OnFire :OnFire :OnFire

My second thought is - you gotta be on drugs to think it is going to be a "sleeper" with that pipe :Ugh

I am really liking the overall concept and execution. A few little adjustments (pipe angle, etc) and you have one cool enduro! I want to see and hear some video!
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.
