Hi, I'm Dan from Green country Oklahoma. Been riding  (mostly off road ) since the 70's,Recently bought a 1976 DT400C 5K miles all original except seat cover has been replaced. So I've been getting it road worthy, replaced chain and sprockets and tires which have 1985 date codes. Has poor spark which is how I found this site.

Welcome from NZ. CDI spark never looks exciting. If you can see it with plug resting on the head at kick speed she'll run, guarantee it--well almost, fingers crossed.
Just to add, so long as the carb isn't blocked up with old fuel varnish & blocked the jets.

I have done all that and burned exhaust out as well. It was running good at Idle to 1/4 throttle, and week on up. Now it runs for a couple mins and then bogs and dies, coil checked out ok but CDI is a good amount out of spec.
