after some grunting we have the Clutch basket and idle gear off
so yeah that needle bearing is blown
will get the cranks apart next week and go from there, assess the damage to casing
what is supposed to hold that needle bearing in there?
the scematic i can see shows that circlip seen in image to be behind the needle bearing so presuming thats migrated through the damaged bearing?

I can only comment on vaguely remembered TY175 motors but I think they are pretty much one and the same with yours.

That circlip forms the backstop of the idler gear.  So working outwards..

Needle bearing that broke, circlip, washer, kick idler gear, washer and circlip.

If you go to post #4 on my new candidate thread, you will see I specifically mention replacing these very circlips as a matter of course.  They can give endless problems if they are not tight on the shaft.

I heat the crankcase with a propane or mapp gas and should come out with a punch and small hammer to replace take your new bearing and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours then heat your crankcase up and your new bearing should drop in

You'll be very lucky if the shaft is good, as it runs directly in the bearing so likely the bearing breaking up has chewed the area on the shaft. Not only that but as i sais somewhere, check it for being bent. & more--the broken bits may have wandered through the gears in the trans & not improved things.

this shaft?
PN 558-17421-00

will have it apart soon and check transmission, i still hold some hope as damage wasn't done while engine running it might be not as bad as it could have been, time will tell & could do with some luck at this stage tbh

The motor must have been running to destroy that bearing, I would guess its happened due to problems with the kickstart mechanism?

this where it get a bit murky
symtoms were: after a very short ride to work
it would start and idle fine but no power, took it a jet was blocked as it went onto reserve on way into work
cleaned carb
ran and got me home but then woudnt idle
cleaned carb again changed piston and rings
ran really well for short run then cut out again
no bangs nasty noise or siezing
after that wouldnt start and developed the kickback, kickstart seized in down position  and damage to  kick and idle gear which is when i started to look at timing issues, also around this time a sheared woodfruff key
further investigation showed the stator side seal gone and damage to the bearing visible in shards on clutch side
i would have considered that bearing to have gone with some force causing a noticabe noise and possible siezed engine?
anywaus it will hopefuly be fully apart next week and can assess the damage and go from there
thanks again
D
