Just an retired Army guy who was given a pretty rusted up 1968 DT1 today. Came here for help to see if I can get it started. Has spark and turns over, have to get some good gas into it as the tank is completely rusted up inside, clutch seems to be stuck also.
Be Happy!

In preparation for my new upcoming retirement hobby of restoring old motorcycles I admired or owned in the past, I purchased a CT-1. The resources on this site are outstanding and I know I'll be using them for years to come. I recently purchased a 1970 CT-1 which will need just some light work to restore it.

In the attached pic from 1974 I'm the guy in the middle while my friends with more experience load my DT-1 (black tank). I'm standing near the guy on the left in the yellow shirt's 1970 CT-1 which is already loaded. I'm not sure why we left our mirrors and taillights on to go riding in the dirt?!?

Welcome! To the site! Looks like a 74-76 DT250? European model.

Looks to have a lot of potential.if it starts, you are closer than many we see! Check for good fuel flow from the tank. Petcocks can clog. Unhook the hose from carb and see if you get a good flow there. If so, the carb may still need more cleaning. Often it takes multiple attempts to get a bad one right.

Should be pretty east to get it moving and others will weigh in!

Thanks for the reply, yea need to check the flow out the tank, it comes out almost like a dribble is it supposed to flow out fast, its defiantly at a good starting point, clutch defiantly needs sorting out because dosent work, possibly needs new exhaust and fork seals, i was told it was a dt 100

Looking more closely, the cylinder does look pretty small. Check the VIN number on the steering head to be sure.

The fuel should flow pretty fast out of the hose. If it is dribbling, you likely found your problem.

We may have a service manual in the tech section, but I am not recalling one for sure. Clymer manuals are a pretty good substitute for the factory manual.

When you get time, start. Build thread on your project so folks who are interested can follow along. You will get more feedback that way!

When you say, clutch does not work, what do you mean? It won't disengage? Often the plates stick together and pulling the clutch lever does not allow them to separate the way they are supposed to. You can try draining the fluid and putting in new fluid, but you may have to take the case cover off and take the clutch parts apart, clean them off, and assemble it again to get the clutch to work roperly. Start a thread about your bike, and as you have troubles, we'll chime in. Mods, move me over when he starts his thread. Thanks!
