A beautiful day and a lovely circuitous route through the Berkshire countryside today to collect some cooking apples from my mate Ron.

Had some warmer weather earlier this week and took the opportunity for a late afternoon ride on the local single track...but got a flat tire half way through.
 

With my tire changing success rate at home I don't bother carrying a tube and irons, so a slow ride out it would be. Went well until a water crossing, the next hill was an issue. Good thing I'd seen this zip tie trick...
 

It worked perfectly for about ten feet, then they all broke. Must be the Torque Induction. Thankfully no need to clutch the bike while walking next to it going uphill, just pull back and the tire would spin on the rim.
 

It was a slow 14 miles home but we made it, never been so glad for a 6v headlamp

Over 20 miles in the saddle today......... beautiful fall day in South Carolina for a ride.

Had a few specs of dirt on the fenders, just had to wash it off before I put it away......(my how things have changed )

 

Went to do a down river canoe trip the other day, and was going to take the '13 XT250 but then I remembered that the lithium battery doesn't like cold weather and it froze overnight. As I didn't want to walk the ~10 miles I'd be paddling, it felt ironic to load up the older bike because I knew that no matter what it would start, regardless of how cold it was. Really wish the modern bikes still included a kick start.

Went with a heavy duty tube this time...
 

Can't say he was particularly impressed as he doesn't like the rapids, but it was a successful trip and shuttling back to the car was half the fun.
