Did the Modesto -> Livermore run and back again this past Sunday. Went the back way, through Patterson and up Del Puerto Canyon to The Junction, then Mines Road into Livermore, and back the same way. Solid 5 hours in the saddle round trip, I think about 160 miles. DT1 really is a great canyon carver!

Hey--don't pick on the queen. Wouldn't want her job for quids. She's still our queen too downunder in NZ!!. I 'm sure i've seen pics of the Duke riding 5TA Triumphs a lifetime ago & i liked 5TA's--same type motor as in my Metisse scrambler in the "60's. Here's a link of what would be exactly mine with a sound i'll never forget on full song. Another bike i never should have sold--umm--but the DT1 came along!!.

 

Stopped by to see Lizzie last week myself… she was in but cancelled our cuppa as she busy hiding Prince Philip 

 

Does riding a machine like an enduro make it an enduro? Been quite pleased with the '80 XS850. More stable on dirt roads than it has any right to be with road tires. Wouldn't take it on single track of course, but it certainly is nice when you do need to hit the pavement. I was planning to sell it but am now pondering getting some dual sport tires on it. Suspension is of course the weak link but not much worse than my CT2 for what that is worth. Some beautiful fall weather in Northern California today.
