Hi All!
New southwestern Pennsylvania member to the forum & thanks for having (I was a member of a previous version of ).
My first experience with Yamaha Enduros was in my high school and college days of the mid to late 70's(, 1973 DT 250). That bike was sooo much fun and let me learn how to ride (on a side note, it became even more fun when I pried some kind of internal muffler "baffle" out of it!). Not much later, I advanced to an RT3 (, 1973 DT 360). Man, that bike was a beast! It was like a tank compared to the DT3. You had to really coax everything out of the 250 on trails / hill climbs. Whereas, with the 360, it just took you where you wanted to go; just give a little more throttle and hold on! That is, as anyone with RT3 experience knows, everything was fine after you got it started; it had a mighty mean kick-back at times!!! But after that, "Wheee"!!! Unfortunately, at some point after college graduation, I left my Enduros by the wayside. Sold the 250, while a cousin inherited the 360.
In 2010 I got the itch to try and explore some of the "old" trails. I kept my eye open and eventually found a 1974 DT 360A in a barn (of course) in upstate NY. It needed some serious TLC to get it back to life. So I then discovered sooo many other Enduro lovers via old Enduro forum, found the parts and know-how to bring that bike back to life. I didn't do a true restoration, but I did make the DT 360A a real nice bike and regular rider. A bit later, I also did the same with a 1975 DT400. Alas, I sold that one off due to space constraints. But the DT 360A remains as my weekend back road and gentle trail rider!
Sorry to be long-winded, but that's how I got here!!!

Thanks for information GR8UNCLEAL! I was looking in to replacing the brake shoes a couple of weeks ago and had an issue tracking down correct part numbers but thank you for the reminder! I'll check the CMSNL website now
I didn't see a voltage regulator installed when I had things apart and was surprised to only see a rectifier! Also a good tip.. I'll dig around for a 6V regulator. Much appreciated!!

Hello!
I'm Tom from Central California. My first bike was a 1953 D.O.T with a Villiers engine. I drove Honda CL 350's through high school but my motorcycle obsession subsided during the child rearing years. Then one day, I was given a CT1 to get running for a friend and was given an MX400B for payment. What a trench maker. I stumbled into a YZ360B in pieces years later and sold it to pay a PG&E bill. After having several dozen more adventures in restoration, I have finally settled in to my almost daily rider, a '22 Triumph Scrambler 1200. There isn't anything this bike doesn't do well!
Thank all for the great advice and fellowship.

Welcome from NZ. The MX400B has me sitting up & taking notice lol. I had an MX250B new in "75. Identical bike in most respects.

Hello, I'm Lou!
I'm just starting out riding motorcycles, but have loved them since I was a kid. My dad used to take me on the back of his sport bikes when I was small, and I haven't really touched them since. I just got my license through the california highway patrol course, and bought a '73 DT250 as my first bike. I didn't think I'd buy it when I went out to see it, but as soon as I sat on it and revved it the engine, I fell in love with it. It runs fine, but seeing as I'm new to bikes in general I figured I'd join and see what knowledge I could absorb.
Happy to be here!
