If you get really fed up, if you send me the ignition I could test it on a running bike. No charge except you'd have to pay the shipping both ways. and for parts if it needs something like a condenser and you want me to change it.

I want to see you get that thing running right!

Thanks mark

Well!!!!!
I soldered in a new condenser and the freakin thing stopped breaking up!
Took it around the block 2 times to redline with no issues through all gears. Gonna take it on a longer ride this afternoon to confirm but I think that solved the issue!

I had soldered in a new one when I got the bike but I guess it was bad or it got too hot when I soldered it and ruined it.

Hopefully this solved it!
Thanks to every single person that helped!
I had a beer for everyone lol

Great job! Congratulations! :likey

It's getting harder to find good quality new condensers. You probably didn't damage it. I tend to just leave the original and only change it if it's bad.

I've had the best luck with NOS Japanese condensers but they are getting hard to find and expensive.

Thanks a lot for your help mark.

Can you post a link? I always like to have a spare condenser if possible.

I don't have a link. I just look on ebay for OE Yamaha or OEM... Hitachi, Daiichi, and Mitsubishi are decent brands I can remember right now.

Do you guys run these bikes with the extra spark plug in place? I’m going on a long trail ride this weekend and would like to have an extra plug.

If the stock blanking plug is still there, I don't remove it. Head is not the best place for your only spare... it can foul too! I know this from experience. :Ugh

Best to throw a spare in your toolbox, tape to the frame, keep in your pocket or backpack... You can also get protective plastic plug holders from bike and boat shops or ebay/Amazon. I gave a bunch away at Endurofest a few years ago.
