Well I've only been on '72 and '73 year bikes, but of the five I've been on, any carburetor issues never sounded quite like this, I feel like they take a second or two longer to manifest themselves if that makes sense. If it's too rich or too lean, if you gently roll off the throttle it will surge with more power as it transitions into the right fuel ratio. That's of course only if the main and or needle are off. If just the main is just a little too too rich you can drop a gear, go to 3/4 throttle and still hit high rpm. From the video it doesn't seem like yours wants to do this.

Now the long wait for those reeds!

For what it’s worth
I’ve had both carbs on the bike
One was a cheap replica and this stock one and the bike shows the same misfire. the bike revs fine to redline while idling

Thanks for the help!

I’ve been away from the YE site for a few weeks. What an entertaining thread! Great job GV on your perseverance and quality posts!

Here is a video of the spark
Does it look ok?
Seems like it skips just a bit
Was using a cordless drill to turn the motor over at the magneto

Watched your video. Your issue is spark related, not fuel. Don't go after reeds or the carb. The choppiness of the cutting out sounds & appears as if ignition was being switched on/off/on. When I have an issue like that I always start with a spark plug, but I know you've done that.

If you were me, I would first swap the spark plug cap with a new/different one. If that doesn't work, unplug the ignition switch and test run it. If the issue was still there, I would next run a jumper wire from the stator black wire, bypass the bikes harness completely and go straight to the black wire at the coil. If the issue still existed, I would put my eyes on the points & condenser connections very carefully, with the flywheel off. If that all looked OK I would replace the condenser and re-test.

This is all assuming the timing is set correct and not overly-advanced. Before actually replacing the condenser, it might be worthwhile to make a large change to timing, to the retarded side and see what happens. After all it's only an adjustment...sometimes I take a big swing in the other direction just to see the result...because in the end it is, just an adjustment.
Allrighty Then

Thanks apex.
For some reason I always thought it was an electric issue. I will try your suggestions

Here is the wiring to the ignition coil. Is it correct?

I’ve tried various plugs, all b8es.
2 different igniton coils with different wires and caps. No luck

Unplugged ignition switch= no change

Ran jumper straight from black wire off stator to coil = would not start

Made drastic changes to ignition points = no change

After each change tried to ride it with same hesitation
I did wire in a new condenser and replaced points when I got the bike. Could the condenser be bad?
This shit is driving me mad lol

That's not out of the question on the condenser, have seen if happen before in cars due to what they call "infant mortality rate". Shame you are not near someone with a similar bike to swap parts that are known to be good.
