Schu, could you use an 'o'ring backer on the screw to help with that issue?

Yes that probably would have kept it from happening.....
The air pocket is irreversible at this point.

Fab time in the fab shop yesterday, I had a go at mig welding and it might not be pretty, it's certainly solid.
Tricky to get the curve pieces correct, had to slot the flat part of the angle to allow for the bend and there's a dip where the seat latch is.
Probably easier to have made the angle in two pieces and weld at the angle, but I didn't do it that way.
Bit of cleaning up of the underside welds to do, will leave foam side alone to keep the strength.
I'll tack on the barbed strip next week.
This seat is the '71 seat that came with the bike, my AT1-C currently has a '69/'70 seat on, so this one will eventually go on that bike and with the seat I bought with the bike I'll end up with a spare.
Finished off the exhaust, tidying up the fake seam tacks and giving it several coats of PJ1.
I found correct main jet and a pilot jet without a damaged slot in one of my parts boxes, so I can finish the carb.
I'd like to get the bike running before I tear it down, just to see what it's like.
Moving forward, but plenty left to do.

We've got a runner!!!
Borrowed the tank from The Doppelganger and put the freshly cleaned carb back on.
Kickstart, decided to stop engaging after a few kicks, but my battery drill on the mag nut soon got things going.
Sounds good, apologies for the short video.

Love watching the progress thanks.
I used to attempt things like you're doing when i had an ocy acetylene set but got too expensive to have sitting mostly doing nothing. Have an arc welder but that's only good for blowing holes in thin stuff. I need a tig welder.

Few more bits done.
Fabrication work on the seats is done so I have just this minute, painted the foam side with Hammerite Smooth, the other side will be spray painted once I get chance.
The rusted end of the exhaust silencer has now been replaced.
I bought a vice for pillar drill a few weeks back, specifically for the job of holding the tube whilst drilling the holes, unfortunately I've put it somewhere so safe that I can't find it.
Had to improvise with a piece of decking board and some batton to hold the tube while I drilled it, I still haven't found the vice

.
I'm enjoying learning to weld, I'm sure a lot of you already have that skill.
Air filter that came with the bike was a paper one that had seen better days.
'69 model would have originally had a foam filter and cage, so I used the expired paper one and some perforated steel sheet to make the early version.
Foam yet to be fitted.
