I'm probably sounding like broken record but tighten the flywheel good & tight. Especially if those run no key at all.
I guess they runs a 12 volt lighting setup with regulator rectifier & battery so should be great.

Update to post 211: How to set kickstarter spring tension .
If you already have your crankcases apart, you can see the tension on the spring. If you look back in some of my pics in this thread you will see the tension on the spring inside the R crankcase.
The spring is angled at about 2 and 8pm or there about. Point the ratchet stop at 2pm, engage the spring, put the kick starter lever temporarily on the shaft and turn 180 degrees counter-clockwise, then somewhere around 45 +/- degrees to clear the stop, push the shaft gently while turning L/R, and it will slip in place.
Some of this is in the service manual, however it recommends taking note of spring install position when removing the kick starter. In my case, I also installed with the gear removed so the clutch didn't interfere.
Putting decompression cable on engine Sat. Might be engine install day!

I recon when they were designed they must've had a prize for who could design the most annoying kick start spring.
Plus, if it breaks then it's a total dismantle job.

Yes looking good for sure. Those pics are so clear when expanded up. Everything nice & shiny.
I'd better not mention the tits broken off both breathers--they do that, & i know they'll be replaced.
I wonder i they were made of black matterial maybe they wouldn't go brittle.
Not far off start up now so looking forward to the big moment. That's always exiting.

a little progress, a little redo of a some things too. Took the tach gear out to replace new seal and o-ring. The R cover gasket seemed to brittle and didn't fit right. Pulled cover, wife did a great job painting the yamaha log on, and
best thing that happened today was created a new tool:
M6x1.0 Thread chaser/cleaner:
Cut about 4 slits in a M6x1.0 bolt. Bolt in pic 25mm. I keep a can of WD40 and B3 Cleaner. Then attaching an allen wrench I cut off for use on a cordless drill with torque control, set to low torque and enjoy. I used B3 to clean bolt on removal and 1 shot WD40 for cleaning threads. Yes, you could use a tap, but they are a bit more aggressive.

Thanks Mrs pabdt for painting the letters:
had to reorder a new gasket for R cover, but am working on wiring today, chain, few other things. R1 in background.

Have you finished getting this all up and working? If so how is the stability of your lights at night? I noticed with my vape 12v system that the lights still drag down quite a bit at idle.

I have wired things up, but no testing yet. I'll post a video up when done.

Yesterday while going over the bike again I found a wire that was unused by the Vape system that I hadn’t put heat shrink on the end and was causing trouble. Once I’d put the heat shrink I took it out after dark and everything was as I’d expected and strong lights all the way around with very little dimming when using multiple different lights at the same time.
I think you’ll love the difference!!!
