Dt250a no spark was created by Wbsterritt

Strange occurrence. I recently got the 250 running and took it out for a quick spin in the woods. When I returned,  the engine suddenly went into an uncontrolled racing mode. After quickly shutting her down, I now find I have no spark. Could this situation cause any of the ignition components to go bad?

Sounds like two separate problems.
Racing has me thinking left side crank seal popped out or just out at an angle exposing one little bit.
Possibly right side but that's usually followed by lots of smoke.
Totally guessing & doesn't explain no spark unless there's a mess blowing out the left seal & causing points to lose contact.
One more--has it blown the base gasket around the transfers, that's sucking air.
I have a bad habit of going for the jugular when its just something simple like the throttle stuck open for some obscure reason.
Not carb top unscrewed off the slide.
