I absolutely do think that they get a thrill out of just throwing roadblocks in your way. Even though some of them acted like they were trying to help me, I think they were being passive aggressive :0)

When I insisted that I had filed a planned non operation form in 1992, which I did, he asked "do you have a receipt?" I'm like, are you kidding me? 30 years ago, and I'm going to keep a receipt from a planned non operation? Not to mention that they don't send you a receipt. At the very most, I might have the canceled check..

Oh well, if you work at the DMV, I guess you have to get your kicks some way,... they probably go to the break room and share daily stories of how they've screwed people over. Maybe they even have annual award parties, giving prizes to the clerks that did the best job screwing over the customer?

Hi,
Registering a motorcycle that hasn’t been registered in California for 30 years can be a bit of a process, but it's doable. Start by visiting your local DMV with the bike's title or bill of sale’ll need to complete a VIN verification, possibly a brake and light inspection, and fill out a Statement of Facts form. Be prepared to pay any fees or back taxes if applicable. It’s best to call ahead and confirm specific requirements based on your motorcycle’s history.

Hi Rane, I just checked in and saw your post. If you go back and read the 15 pages of this thread, you'll see I did finally get it registered. I've got over 3,000 miles on it now. A neighbor just got a couple of nice late '60s Honda 305s for a really good deal. He fixed them up and is going to sell at least one of them. One hasn't been registered since 1968, and it has the original plate. I told him about my ordeal, and what he might do is just tell the DMV he doesn't have a plate, then go from there. The other one is only about a year out of registration, so it shouldn't be a problem. I never tried again to get my original blue plate registered again, I'll just keep the new plate on it. Not that big of a deal.

Tom- It might just be me but looks like Rane46 might be someone experimenting with AI to review a topic and the Internets and posting an answer.

(There was another post on a kick start thread by this user that REALLY looked like a gobbledeegook BS answer assembled by AI but someone deleted it)

Yeah Mark, I think you might be right. In fact the post reads like it was written by AI. It's like if I asked Google the question in the title of this thread.

I copied the other post because it was kind of funny....  Really sounded like "AI" to me.  Here's the first part of it:

Hi, The Kickstarter angle 71 DT-1 is an essential component for Yamaha DT-1 enthusiasts, especially those restoring or maintaining vintage models. This particular kickstarter arm provides a precise 71-degree angle, ensuring optimal clearance and smooth operation during starting............

Yep, that kickstarter post looks definitely like AI as well. Also starts out with "Hi".

FYI : For those in Calif. If you have a "AAA" card, you just go to a AAA dealer and in 15 minutes all your DMV work, including large array of registration, etc is handled.

Pabdt, I don't know if I posted it early in this thread, but the first thing I did was go to AAA. I've been a member over 35 years. They said they could not handle it because the bike was out of the DMV system. After a certain amount of years of PNO or not being registered, they just fall out of the system. Or perhaps it happened when they redid the system? I also went to a local private DMV registration shop that is supposed to be great at handling stuff like this, and they couldn't help me either.
