Bringing back this older thread (trying to follow Mark T's advice to start with a forum search). Great thread but hoping to find a mention of where to buy JLS fastener kit rather than paying $3.50 per screw from partzilla or others and waiting two weeks for delivery. I see some "spec bolt" kits available but nothing with OEM zinc case screws for early Yamahas. I'll use the hardware store as a last resort. Perhaps someone has a source they can share.

Put me in the unpopular screw camp, the allens just look plain hokey to me and out of place but I’m also an originality freak. With the proper JIS driver the screws are a non issue and look much more correct to my OCD eyes...

I did not know the facts about JIS head screws until recently,,,, now all the stainless hex fasteners on my stuff look somewhat wrong,,, want to & have been switching back
The carb mount bolts using a ball end hex though is going to be hard to give up
