I think insuring my 83 xl 600, 80 cm 400, 84 vt500, and 97 bmw funduro 650 runs about 120 year and tags 20 year in Georgia. When I had a running At3 insurance was about 14 bucks a year.

In the UK ... vehicles over 40yrs are classed as historic and are road tax and MOT ( annual road worthiness test) exempt ....
Insurance is reasonable as well for classics as I have 5 DT1 s insured for road use for $150 which is immense vale ...
Cheers

Insurance has not been an issue really. Basic on the Harley has gone up from $100 to about $150 in the last ten years. Had a Honda xl350 that actually lowered yearly payment by $8 when added, multiple bike discount. Sold that after a few years, when I added the 73 dt3 payment went up by $6. Go figure. Last year registration on dt3 went to $125 and Harley to $150. I hear things are going to take a big jump this year. Would like to add a few more bikes but the wife is not too enthusiastic about reg costs. I could non op them but what fun is that. Anyway, just trying to see if anyone knows something I don’t.

I think Nevada is about $55/year per bike to register the old bikes. Not too bad but when you get into double digits of bikes owned and a couple of newer bikes that cost over $100/year to register it's a lot.
One thing you can do different from California is you own the plate, doesn't go with the bike. So you can go to DMV and take a plate from one bike and transfer to new bike for a few dollars. I've done that a few times but it's not practical now with Covid. Almost impossible to get into the DMV.
I wish we had the cheap "historic" registration rates some other places do... here you can get "old timer" plates but it actually costs MORE.

When I moved back from Idaho to Norcal in 2016 I plated my CT2 with a the "new" black/yellow plate, AND personalized it. When registration came due the next year, the bill was $185!!! I mean, GULP!! So I non-opp'd the plate (you can choose to keep personalized plates), and sold the CT2 to Letsjet. At the time I had 3 other registered in CA bikes and just couldn't get myself to pay that $185 bill.

Those are the “psychic benefits” of living in Calunicornia. You can’t afford to register all your toys but the weather here lets you ride them all year long!

I'm in Washington, which is rapidly following California for ridiculous registration fees. My 98 DR650 just came in the mail and will be about $88 bucks including a $25 "vehicle weight fee. Seriously. I do a lot of damage to the roads when riding it. . . If I were in Seattle, I could easily add a couple hundred bucks to that for their infrastructure charges. Just one of many reasons not to live in Seattle.
My solution for most of my older bikes (pre-1990) is to register them as a collector vehicle. One time registration fee ($40 the last time I did one). Limited riding is part of the deal, but with a fleet, not an issue

We still have to have liability insurance on any bike over 50cc so I have an understanding agent who simply swaps the listed bike with a phone call when I want to ride one of the ones not normally covered.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

It is expensive in California but at least the street legal registration supersedes an OHV sticker, wouldn't be surprised if that is an additional charge in the future.
