Totally agree on some folks wanting a “killing”. On other parts, international, I wonder if the exchange rate has been hosed up? That’s what I’ve chalked it up to. However I did see a low front fender for the pre-74 dt/rt, used, available for $1000 domestically, on EBay. Used and not new. Come on man!

Hello Older than dirt.
Yes the prices some people dream up make things difficult. Getting parts over to the UK is an expensive job.
Here's my ports of call.
Here on the add section.
Here for really obscure stuff. I have been helped by any number of people on here.
Ebay UK
Ebay .com
Yambits ( okay for some stuff)
CMSNL in Holland
Fowlers of Bristol
Two wheeled spares ,Stafford
KDI restorations .
I never buy anything without checking the price including shipping and tax and the price of genuine parts.
Some people will always try to rag your pants off and slap your ass.
You do get lucky some times though.I bought 4 genuine rims.2 front 21s and 2 rear 18s £199 delivered to my door. That's around $260.00
Regards shyted

I wonder if sometimes the sellers don’t jack the price up to keep the listing until they get another of that item, knowing that it won’t be bought. Then when they say, get another bike to strip, adjust the price. Dunno, I’ve never sold anything on Endurobay.

There is a 1973 AT 1 (AT 3) - 4600mls. for sale here in Australia - on the market for $A25,000 - Negotiable.
Been there a while - so I guess the market is not all that buoyant at the moment !!!!!!

One of the things I like about the Partzilla site is the list of other years/models a part was used on. I remember looking for an obsolete fork part used on 82/83 Honda CR. There were a few NOS along with several used eBay listings. Lowest price on a used part was $40 and the NOS were $100 and up. This was for a part that retailed for under $20 when new. Luckily I found the same part was used on a street bike up until the late 90’s. I tracked down a company selling reproductions for $25. A little more digging and I found the company making the reproductions. I bought two from them for $24.

I agree. It pays to do a lot of research, looking at any photos that you can find on CMSNL (European equivalent of Partzilla), fleabay and the internet in general. Speedos and tachos in particular are often listed incorrectly (no, it DOESN'T fit DT100, DT125, DT175, DT250 and DT360!!). Mind you, I've picked up some bargains due to incorrect listings :likey ,although I've yet to find the holy grail of an early DT1 tacho for $20. :ROFLOL

Speedo and tach from various models might not technically be identical in terms of "originality" but they are certainly interchangeable in terms of basic functionality... speedos more than tachos...

Worse problem is due to Yamaha's early "shared" parts lists the crossovers at Partzilla and others will show things like a piston part number fitting both a 250 and a 360 which is absolutely not true.

They shouldn't cross over....probably a foul up.

Back in the day....late '60's through mid 70's, the owner at the old Yamaha shop I worked at would stock everything you need to rebuild a top end on all the 2 strokes. Pistons, rings, stock and oversized, wrist pins, top end rod bearings. There was no fast shipping, so he stocked everything. Along with cables, brake shoes, levers, handlebars, grips...he wanted people to get their bikes going again fast. It was great customer service. I believe all his NOS ended up going to a shop called Victoria Cycle Shop in Victoria Texas.
