Cool film. Brings back great memories. I had a few 'very used' ones of those pushrod 50's, one with electric start.
Nearly never wore out. Has an S65 for a while as my ride to work bike.
Those pushrod 50's had no oil pump & just a dipper on the conrod plus a spiral on the camshaft end to send oil to the valve gear.
Simple but effective. Even had a CB200 with a run bigend & had a CB175 crank 'under the bench'.
By memory the crankpin was part of one crankwheel but 175 stroke must've been the same as 200.
Everything pressed up & trued up & ran perfect. Sorry haha, story time. We were Honda dealers then plus yamaha.

I bought my 1971 RT1 in march of 1971 for $836.00 plus $48.00 tax, $26.00 DMV, rear seat and pegs $17.00 total out the door $978.00 . It’s been sitting for 45 years. I pulled it out of storage, cleaned the jets, changed the oil, sanded the points, added gas and a new spark plug. Started with three kicks ! I have original receipt from San Francisco Yamaha.

I’d add pictures if I knew how.
How do you add pictures ?

"How do you add pictures ?"

You need to use a third party photo host, such as Imgur.

Copy and paste a link to the photo on that site and we can view. On Imgur, there is a "BB" button alongside an image that, if used, will actually post the image on to this forum.

Wow, this was an amazing story.

I was struck because I recognized the name of my former cycle shop. City Cycle Sales had been my local hometown dealer (even after they quit selling Yamaha around 2001) for years. I hate to share bad news, but City Cycle Sales closed their doors after Wayne, the owner/founder, passed away in 2023. This was a hard blow to the community here, but we all share great memories of the shop, just as you do!
