Won't be a compression issue @90psi. My suzuki 125 has 60psi [which i'm not proud off lol] & starts by hand--doesn't idle reliably though understandably but rockets down the road

You have enough compression and spark for it to fire it has to be carb, try starter fluid I bet it fires, revs like hell and dies and if so then you're carb needs to be assessed. Clean, rebuild, set float height and whatnot. That carb is very sensitive to float height from my experience. AFTER the clean or rebuilt if that doesn't work check your needle in the slide if/when you're in there and make sure the c clip is on top of the slide, not under.

I remember when i was a kid i took the carb off my old bike & poured something volatile down there [turpentine i think], it started & gave a huge rev for a couple of seconds with me hiding around the corner haha.

Funny thing is that's how I got my AT1, was helping a younger guy learn how to troubleshoot and had him kick it after the starter fluid test and it scared the crap out of him. By the end of the day the bike was mine for a mtn bike I had hanging in my garage. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

thanks for all the replies. I have completely disassembled the carb, soaked it, blew out all the passages and set the float level from a post I found on here. guess I will be taking it apart again to make sure. I guess I should just buy all the seals. the bike has been sitting in the desert for 20 years. I have had the stator off before from info on here so I'm becoming a pro! hahaha! I tried some brake cleaner and it "farted" a bit. I have a 12v deep cycle battery I can add to the equation for more cranking power. I have removed the spare spark plug and squirted a little gas in there and tried squirting a bit in the card, both with no results.. anyway, tomorrow i'll get back at it.

thanks for all the replies!

silly question, but you definitely adjusted the points in the direction of engine travel, aka your points are opening BTDC not after ?

Yes. I’m rotating the engine counter clockwise. I find tdc with dial indicator, zero out, turn engine clockwise a bit, turn on key, test light clamped to points and ground, turn counter clockwise till light goes on, at 70 thousandths. I believe that what I read to do.

Thanks

Please read this; I posted it a few days ago in another thread. You need to be aware of what you are creating:

Hate to jump in here with something very serious after all these good bits of humor, but remember that heat/fire and chlorinated Brake Parts Cleaner DO NOT MIX! This is how mustard gas is made. Be careful, you back yard chemists. I'd hate to see someone spray the silencer full of chlorinated Brake Parts Cleaner, have a little pool left in there that didn't evaporate, and then throw it on the fire. Upwind.
Be careful out there!"

Get some ether-based starter fluid if you want to spray something in there. Live long and prosper.
