AT1 no start. what am i missing? was created by unclejtl

so I just got this bike. going over everything. can't get it started, just turns over and over. where i'm at,

120 psi compression
new Yamaha points and condenser. came in factory package with part numbers.
rebuilt carburetor
new spark plug, even tried old plug
I have spark. I see it when I turn it over with the starter button and plug grounded out side of head.
I have a stator, governor and cover I got off ebay as mine were rusted. cleaned it all up good.
my dial indicator is in thousandths. set as close to 71 thousandths as I can.
points set at .012
timing by moving points is almost at the end of adjustment.
fresh gas. even tried removing a plug and squirt a little in with a syringe.
in the one picture I could only get it to 65 thousandths, but found when tightening the point hold down screws, it changed.
i'm using a test light to tell me when the points open.

what am I missing? thanks

Advance weights need to held open when setting timing.

Is there any way the advance unit can be half a turn out. Then again, with timing at about 72thou or in the ball park it 'should at least fart.. Not blown a crank seal out. Condenser good, probably is good if spark looks good & not just a big flash at the plug. Does it suck with your hand over the carb & spinning it on the starter with throttle open. Has it got a belly full of fuel now, & is the plug getting wet--very wet. if that's the case just leave it overnight with fuel off & plug out then hold it on full throttle & spin it--might start.

so not sure what happened between yesterday and today, but compression is down to 90psi. this bike has 3800 miles and been sitting for 20 years. supposedly. I did see a little oil in the ignition cover when I took it off today. here are a few videos of trying to start, spark and compression. i'm not really sure what to do next.

yes it sucks in the carb with the throttle open and turning over. plug is wet, not super wet though.

Mine won't start with electric start unless the battery is fully charged but your spark looks good. Will it fire on starting fluid?

You might have two problems now . The original starting issue might be down to
the starter jet in the float bowl being blocked . Plenty of threads on this .
However now you might have an issue with your left hand crank seal popped out
of place , as well . Plenty of threads available on generator removal too .

While ya getting some engine start maybe get an aftermarket condenser & clamp it to earth under the tank & tuck the wire into the wire coming from the points--just to be sure to be sure. hook it to your car battery with jumper leads, leave car running just to keep it up there & hold the bike on full song. If it doesn't fire within say 5-10 seconds then flag that idea. then i give up. Drop the exhaust & see if it fires.
