Hi everyone, my name is Jarrett, I'm 50 years old and living in Sydney, Australia. I have recently acquired what I believe to be a 1974 DT250. Not much is known about the history of the bike nor its current running condition. I don't think it has been running for over 20 years. My first goal is to see if I can get it running. Beyond that, who knows. I do enjoy thinking about a restoration, but unfortunately I am not very mechanically gifted. I am hoping to learn a lot from the good people of this website and forum (how to clean parts, how to acquire parts etc...) and see where this project takes me.
I have only been riding for about 4 years now, and my daily rider is a 2016 Yamaha MT-03.

Welcome Jarrett.  You will be hard pressed to come across any problems that haven’t already been discussed on this forum. And you will find that the resident experts are very tolerant of guys like us who want to take on things we have never done before.

Hello from San Diego CA.
Just became the caregiver/ head mechanic for a 1974 dt125. Seems to be a decent daily rider around the neighborhood. I’ve corrected several issues but one has me stuck.
It won’t idle when warm. Will idle on initial start.
Trails of and dies when at operating temperature. Carb is clean and properly jetted, idle screw all in. Thoughts?

I trust your airscrew is about 1.5 turns out?  If yes, try 1.75 turns out.
