yes - that's him, he's insanely creative and incredible with a file!

I have another question; specifically the roller bearing on the clutch side of the output shaft has a a bull-nose on the inner race. Does bullnose face the idler gear, or the inside of the transmission? I am leaving nothing to chance this time around, Santiago Peak is calling my name!

Good question and I asked the same one when putting mine together. I looked everywhere I could think to look and never did find a definitive answer. Someone said it probably didn't make any difference in this particular instance and I think that's probably correct. With no way of knowing for sure I had to eventually make a best guess and I chose to put it in with the beveled end facing to the outside. I'm not saying that's correct and it's a worry. Hope someone chimes in before you put your case halves together. If not it's a coin toss.....

Jack, others - did your tach drive have the spacer shown on Partzilla that sits between top of plastic tach gear and clutch cover?

Mine did not and measurements with washer and gear installed as I removed leaves 0.016" (ignoring gasket) between plastic gear and clutch cover, so no way. I am thinking it's for DT250??? only a very think thrust washer could fit and one didn't come out.

I haven't got that far. Haven't touched the engine since I put the case halves together. Shop is like an ice box right now and I'm waiting for warmer weather. I don't think that spacer you're talking about was on there, at least I don't remember seeing it if it was. It'll be in with my parts if it was and will look through them tomorrow and see if one's in there. But if there isn't room for it then I wouldn't worry about it. If it won't fit, it doesn't belong there.

thanks
I left Chicago 6 years ago for S CA after 49 years of freezing my ass off. My last cold garage memory was working on my Bug when a case of beer bottles popped their caps all at once.
thanks agan

No spacer in my parts and after taking a look at my engine it's just like you said, there's not any room for one on that shaft anyway.

You got me thinking there as I've just put my CT1-C back together which does have a spacer, anyway you guys are dead right, the spacer is for the 250.
You're not the only one to have gone through this, here's the investigation work done by others.
