I found this Bike a few years ago very close to my home in Colorado when we were living there... it is in very good shape and Runs perfectly- will be a very easy clean and restore bike.

Will be pretty cool to have the DT1 MX and this DT1 Enduro sitting next to each other when done.

Here are just a few starter pics- I am currently working on getting the Gas Tank- Oil Tank- Headlight Bucket and Ears ready for Paint- (Mandarin Orange).

Now that the MX Project is down to just a few more parts to put on- I can now starting taking this one apart..... More Updates and Pic's coming soon!

Were the chrome fork caps stock on the '71 DT? My '73 has them, and I think '72 also did. I was thinking '71 had black rubber, but I've been proven wrong many times....

Phyllo, the 71 DT1 and RT1 enduros had the chrome caps, the MXs had black caps, i.e. no chrome slip over cover.

Thanks for the answer on the caps! My first real bike was a '71 AT1-C 125, almost positive that had the black rubber "dust seals", I think the factory called them. The bigger bikes must have gotten " the good stuff"...

Replied by hackman101 on topic GFrench- Another 1971 DT250 Enduro Restoration

Great project. I hope to find one too. I had one back in the mid 70s, rode the wheels off that thing. Turned it into a bit of an MX'er

Now that my 1971 DT1 MX Project is 80% to completion.... Just waiting on a couple of additional new parts to arrive to finish installing everything...

So... with that I think tomorrow I will begin to turn my attention to this project-my 1971 Yamaha DT1 250 Enduro!

As I stated earlier- I found this bike in Colorado very close to my home there about 5 years ago... has been in storage for a while- then was moved here to Texas when we moved.

This bike is very complete and is overall in nice shape-  It going to be a very straight forward project to make it look 100% new

The paint I will use for this bike is a Candy-  usually a Silver Base paint then Candy over the top....

I believe there are some providers of the paint out there that is just a Base Coat and Clear for the Mandrin Orange-  think I saw someone on ebay selling it.
