Not a 400 but installed a HPI ignition on a dirt only RT-2 I built. Starts easy and runs great!

Here’s a Craigslist ad of someone (not mine) a 1974 DT250A engine that should have the stator and flywheel you need, a little on the steep side, I’ve had to by buy complete bikes sometimes just to get a certain part I needed and then try to sell the rest to try and recoup most or sometimes more money than my initial purchase price. Try contacting the seller he may be willing to part it out? Never hurts to ask, good luck.

That would be considered cheap on our side of the "pond"! Selling on the frame and carb alone might get half your money back.

I sure do like my side of the pond. I got the whole DT for not much more than this listing.

I've exhausted all my resources and then some. Patience I guess. May be leaning towards the Rex setup or HPI dirt only. My 76' has lights/charging and is plated, was contemplating mx DT from the start.

Well...got that 75 DT250 stator and a 76 DT250 flywheel, mitsubishi F0T01971 in case anyone is wondering and my second DT400 just came alive! Swap went smooth, points need to be replaced, I'm surprised they're even sparking, super worn. Gotta get her timed perfect and the clutch cable broke, spoiling that first ride but probably better off to finish up properly anyways. Love the DT250 points swap, another one saved from part out!

Here I am the only posting on my own thread but I went with K&S Industries points and they worked great. Bike started one kick after DT250 ignition swap and timing set. 75' stator, 76' flywheel...another DT400 saved!

Very cool! I am a big fan of the DT400 model - I think I now have 5 in various condition of disrepair. Welcome to the addiction.

I partially blame MarkT. :) He helped me immensely on my first points ignition swap and I've never been the same...sick, with no signs of getting better. :)
