Hi Folks
I have a '74 DT100 and although it starts and runs well the wiring is a mess.  many of the wires have had new connectors put on, the outer covering is brittle and cracked on most corners or where there is any flexing - eg near the steering head.  I saw some after-market harnesses on eB-- (not sure if I can mention by name, but we all know what I'm referring to!) for about $50 plus postage.  Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these items and, specifically, are the multi connectors correct for the original parts eg recitifier, switches etc.

thanks for any advice.

To answer your question directly, I don't know how well they fit or their quality.

Are you happy crimping and repairing wiring? If you are, then replacement sleeving and wire terminals, bullet and block, are all available, so that yours might be repairable.

There are also used ones on fleabay that might be worth looking at.

It's probably worth checking out the photo of a new item on the CMSNL website, just to compare it with yours, a used one or the pattern one, to make sure that they match up. Edit - image of this attached.

Impossible to say unless it is advertised as a direct replacement for your exact model.

Harnesses for the same model and year often differ depending on which market they were produced for.

For instance. 1978 Euro DT175 mx and US DT175E, even though ostensibly the same bike differ a lot between US and European markets to comply with differing regulations.

DT100D 1977 US market harness differs from every other harness made for the DT100D for any other market in 77 and any other model year.  Completely unique harness.

Member DEET makes harnesses for many models...  not sure he would have one for a 74 DT100 but I just checked the parts books and the 74 and 75 DT175 have the same harness as a 74 DT100.  So that info might make your search easier as DT100 parts don't seem as easy to come by.
