Upon further review the 1974 part is the same, it was just rusty. Took it apart and have it soaking in WD40. Hopefully I can set the timing correctly once the counter weights move freely.

Anybody have a picture or diagram of a governor? Should there be 1 or 2 pins by the inner circle? Does the pin on the plate “locate” the cam for timing? Also, how do you identify the part if it doesn’t have a part number on it? Want to make sure I have the correct one.

How are you trying to set your timing? How are you determining when the piston is 1.8mm BTDC? If the points cam is 180 degrees from opening the points you'll know from that if the governor you have is correct.

I’m trying to set the timing per the book. Do these pictures help? Should there be another pin in pic 1 at the tip of the screwdriver? Does the pin on the shaft go in the cut out of the cam?
