VM30SS rebuild was created by pabdt
This is not my main carb for the 360. I bought this carburetor 100% frozen. Not one part would move or unscrew on it. No, worries, did a 100% rebuild, needle, needle/jet, choke slide/spring, main/idle jets, inlet valve, o-ring on way, chamber gasket, new 3.0 slide, idle/air screws w/springs, and an ultrasonic clean.
There is a crack on the airbox side, not really bad, but I need to come up with a good way to fix it IF possible. Or maybe not fixable. I hate to see such a hard to find carb get trashed, though all the parts could make their way on a good main body. Recommendations welcome...

It's difficult to see the crack but I'd drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from traveling further. Then using a Dremel or triangular file I'd cut a groove along the crack and fill it with a petroleum resistant, high strength epoxy.

Use some HVAC metal tape or mold you some thin sheet metal around it

Yes, really hard to see a crack... just want to say that more than once I've been fooled by something that looked like a crack in a Yamaha casting but wasn't.
If it's covered by that black stuff near the arrow, it probably would be fine without doing anything. Plenty of room to still clamp the boot securely even if it was a chunk missing.
