Loom flexing at the steering head can eventualy break wires within their casing but your model is way more modern than my LS3 100cc that had that problem so unlikely.
But my main cause as it happened was the loom earthed to the air cleaner--battery box wich had gone rusty at the terminal & rusty where the box was clamped to the frame with a long through bolt.
Maybe it was just the battery that earthed to the box--might make more sense as loom usualy goes to the the coil mount--but anyway!!.
Problem wasn't obvious so i started running seperate earths to things until i got a result then dug deeper.
