Grandfathers dirt bike was created by K.Adkins

My Aunt let me have my grandfather’s dirt bike. I grew up going to hill climbs and watching him try to get to the top. He rode me and my cousins around on it when we went to his house. Although, I think the one he did the hill climbs on was black and grey. The serial number makes me think it’s a 1972 Yamaha dt 2 250 enduro. But based on the tank, another place says it’s a 1973 Yamaha DT 3 enduro.
The frame isn’t bad an all I don’t think. I would really like to restore it. Would anyone here know exactly what it is?

The photos didn’t upload. It has an orange tank that says Yamaha in white letters and the oil mixers says Torque Induction with two black pin strips above that. Im sure that’s probably too broad of a description.

Welcome!

Ah...73 250, one of my favorite colors and bikes.

Post the VIN# from steering neck and engine # and/or try the "VIN NUMBERS" option in the tech section.
1974 Yamaha DT125A
1974 Yamaha DT360A with SP96 Exhaust
Next…196x-197x Yamaha something.

Oh, okay. I’ll try to figure out how to do that.

And thanks! I’m so excited to have it.

If you are in the U.S., I believe you have a 1972, based on what you say the color is. 1973 was Competition Green only, I have one.
