Hey guys, I was wondering if through the power of our site, we might convince a reproduction DT 400 gas tank manufacturer in India (look on Ebay for all the ('75/'76/others?) DT 400 reproduction gas tanks....even shiny aluminum!) to remanufacture factory Yamaha 3.7 gallon (or bigger?) desert tanks?  They currently have a price point of around $300 stock tank reproductions.  A desert tank is not that much more of a stretch, I would think.   I don't know if somebody would have to send them a sample desert tank, or just give dimensions, since they already have the bike mount points figured out? Just a thought  :)

Are you talking about the large yellow plastic accessory tanks sold by Yamaha? Or an aftermarket tank?

Do they make aftermarket bolt-on desert tanks that are available these days?

I don't know that India could do plastic?  It seems all the reproductions are metal?

I wouldn't be opposed to 3.7 plastic.  Other than durability/plastic quality issues?

Clark said it wasn't directly mountable.

Anybody else care to weigh in?
