Cheapo carbs? was created by EnduroDan

I have seen the cheap repro carbs on Ebay that will fit my CT1B, and was wondering if anyone has had much experience with them.  I am having a couple of issues with the original carb (need to replace the needle valve among other things), and for $30 or so, I thought I might slap on the repro until I get the original sorted out. Do they install like the original, or are there any mods you have to do?  Ultimately I would llike to go back to the original.  Thanks for your help in advance.

What exactly do you need?

Float bowl gasket is Suzuki Part 13251-11010

Float needle and seat might be cheaper from a Mikuni distributor like Niche Cycle.  but only about $25 from Yamaha.  If you get Gasket and needle/seat from someplace like RMATV/MC you'll probably have it in a couple days.

Chinese carbs are a crap shoot....  some work great, others don't work at all.

Ok, sadly for you guys, i found it lol.
But i forgot i have a reed 175 top end now so for your CT1 piston port motor you'd need a carb adapter rubber thingy. Unless ya talking a clamp up carb like you have now i guess being piston port.
Think one i bought is a 28mm, or mean't to be, but i think i drew the short straw & it was sort of unfinished on the engine side with a step down in size. Maybe it's a petrformance trick "Not" because it fair goes like hell.
That reminds me i did need to jet the main with a bit of thread trickery to mikuni.

If you are prepared to spend a bit more and get a Nibbi carb, you will have something which is better than the original, and will improve running and fuel economy.

First’ I have a China customer carburetor sitting on the shelf from a Retired CHP who had it mounted on a 1972 CT2. I would give it away if I didn’t have to ship it because I refuse to mount it on a customer bike because tuning it could cost several hundred dollars?

I probably have at least 6 - 248 A2 parts carburetors? Normally, I don’t sell them because “if a customer brings in a bike with a China Carburetor Copy I would shelve his and sell him/her a correct reconditioned Mikuni probably in the neighborhood of $140.00 with several purchased new parts.

I have done this at least twice. One bike was a 1970 AT1-B ( Barry K. ) Both jobs were 100% successful. And it was Capt. Dave who in December of 2017 who advised me to do exactly that. We need to listen to our elder professionals. They’ve done this with success.

The Mikuni Carburetors in 2012 were $40.00. They have tripled in price. I have been buying them for 11 - 12 years.

Keep your Yamaha’s original.

The float seems to work fine, and the bowl gasket was replaced as well- pretty sure I put it in right side up - as I remember, there are two different sides.  I think it's the float needle and seat because the bowl is overfilling with gas and leaking out the sides where it attaches to the carb.  Those are two sources I have not checked- would you have part numbers, or are they specifically for my CT1B?
